Running DynAtomic on Realsoft3D V6 (32 and 64 Bit)
Running on the V6?
This is the guide on how to install DynAtomic 1.0.0 on Realsoft3D V6 for Windows (32 and 64 Bit).
When DynAtomic was released, many users got hurted by the fact that it was only available for Realsoft3D V7.
Since there are many users who still get stucked on Realsoft3D V6, I decided to prepare an unknow distribution. By following this little guide you should be able to run DynAtomic on it as well.
It should be noted that this is an unofficial distribution and there are no support nor it is granted that it will works as expected.
STEP 1
Download the 'unknow target' distribution from here (Choose the right architecture):
DynAtomic 1.0.0 - Windows - Realsoft3D Unknow version - 32 Bit
DynAtomic 1.0.0 - Windows - Realsoft3D Unknow version - 64 Bit
NOTE: I refused to create an autoinstaller to avoid confusion. DynAtomic is officially working only for Realsoft3D V7.
STEP 2
Open the archive, the content should look like this:
-
bin
-
dynatomic
-
plugins
-
r3icon
-
reference
-
samples
-
vcredist_x64.exe (Or vcredist_x86.exe)
Extract the content of the archive in your Realsoft3D installation directory (Most of the time c:\Program Files\Realsoft\Realsoft3D). Say yes if the de-archiver program you use ask to overwrite something, there are no files that can damage your Realsoft3D installation.
STEP 3
Go to your Realsoft3D installation directory and execute the VCRedist_xXX (x86 or x64). This will install the needed VC++ Runtime (You may have it already installed, but better to prevent unwanted problems). You can delete this file at the end of the installation.
STEP 4
Run Realsoft3D, and if all goes well, you should see the DynAtomic tab. You can load the various samples by using the Realsoft3D menu: Samples->dynatomic (The samples are V7 generated and cannot be opened in V6). Also there are a bunch of video tutorials on the DynaDream web site:
There is a forum too where you can ask for questions or share your simulations.
Please be aware that there are NO support of any kind for this distribution. Be sure to read the license carefully.
Best Regards.
UARS Satellite to Fall Down on Earth
According to the report from NASA, UARS satellite will falls down on earth September 23, 2011. It also seems that the satellite will be not destroyed completely in the fall and then leaving (although extremely rare) the various components that may damage or injury. Currently it is not yet possible to determine where the satellite debris impacts but NASA will continue to keep us updated as the date of the fall is approaching.

It should be noted that during the course of history such a fatal event never happens (Or at the least no one was reported/confirmed). However, be careful September 23 and occasionally glance at the sky, you never know!
The Indies Vault - IDRTG
The little story and the vault
It was a long time ago when I wrote a first basic article about our indies developer experience on the App Store.
It is globally accepted that for an indie developer the most hard and crucial part for an iOS (Or other OS) app/game developing adventure is: Exposure. Yes, because generally an indie developer (be it an individual or a little company) rely, most of the time, on little budget and low popularity.
So what to do?
The IDRTG (Indie Developers Re-Tweet Group)
There are many initiatives out of there, but one of the most prominent and new is the one proposed by our good friend @innovatty: The IDRTG
The IDRTG is just an idea, and like every other ideas it may or may not work for you. The concept is the classic one but tailored for us: The more you tweets, the more you'll get retweeted. There's a page full of help here: IDRTG Help Page.
I was one of the first joining this twitter list and I'm pretty glad to see it growing so fast day by day. This mean only one thing: Indie developers can help each others by sharing they'r announcements and get more visibility.
Still here? Don't loose your time reading this poor blog, head on here and join the IDRTG now!
Hard days are coming, but nothing is lost. As usual.
Kudos to everyone, and feel free to leave your comment.
NVidia Kal-El Demo Previews Future of Mobile Gaming
'It's all about cores'. This demo from NVidia will speak itself:
The demo is pretty impressive. It seems that this new technology will have a big impact on the mobile market. Are we ready?
From the NVidia blog:
'Given that dual-core processors are already on market, you might be wondering how Project Kal-El’s quad-core technology will improve the mobile experience. Rather than try to explain it, we’ve put together a hands-on demo to give you a sneak peek at the new capabilities coming to superphones and tablets later this year.'

Rumors here and there. Many users are waiting the new device that will change again they'r life every day. This is a just a quick review with some real photos of what will be the next magic pad around:

Screenshot of the new pad, notice the new 'home' buttons.
We had the luck to give it a try and was able to capture a photo and send it via mail by using the optional add-on as you can see in the picture below:

The optional camera
Using the fast email service we where able to see the photo delivered in 7 days (Our friend called us with he's telephone to inform of such a big event).

The mail box used to receive our test photo
Joking of course. But sometimes we need to keep down to past reality to appreciate nowdays goodness. Can you believe?
Feel free to post your thoughts on this.
Indie revenge - The Tiny Wings succes
Some posts ago we where talking about an indie developer experience. It was all about the 'what and the what not to do' things while doing marketing for the iTunes App Store.
As we learned from history, there's alwasy what we called the 'twist'. We are all searching a good marketing strategy, the right blogger site that will make a review for our title(s), PR here and there, but... Some times the good happens.
So, what we are talking about? Well, nowday there are an indie game title running TOP #1 in the iTunes US App Store. (And many other countries): Tiny Wings from Andreas Illiger:
It was all a pleasure to see this. Following the toucharcade article words: 'For having zero marketing, Tiny Wings has been doing some incredible things in the top paid charts in the US App Store'.
Yes, zero marketing. Something that will make indies think about.
The game itself is pretty simple, adorable and fun and we give to Andreas all our compliments. He dethroned the famous ones silently, with a great game.
There are some space left? Should we rethink the way things are done? Is just a mere case? Who know.
Again, there's alwasy something that make the difference, and still we need to catch it out.
Feel free to leave your comment.
